An event as part of the international ART CAMP Bavaria-Mongolia, “The post-nomadic experience - culture, nature and sustainability” by ZEIGENeV.

In the rooms of the old mill of THEgallery or in the Mongolian yurts on the meadows around the mill, we would like to organize a game and cultural evening for the International Week. In connection with the ARTcamp Mongolia - Bavaria, we would like to introduce our guests to the culture, history and contemporary art of Mongolia. In cooperation with the Mongolian Cultural Association Nuremberg, a games evening with traditional games such as “Shagai” (bone game), “Alag Malchii” or “multi-colored turtle”, as well as chess, dominoes and chorol will take place.

The Mongolian Cultural Association accompanies the evening with stalls where Mongolian food, handicrafts and traditional costumes can be presented and sold. Small talks or presentations about culture, history, traditional costumes and handicrafts are also available. An open call for an artistic journey of discovery between Germany and Mongolia:

The association ZEIGENeV presents the ART CAMP Bavaria - Mongolia in summer 2024. The art project invites artists from both countries to explore the post-nomadic experience through cultural exchange, nature experience and sustainability. The artist residencies will take place both in Franconia, Germany, and in Bulgan Province, Mongolia.

In Franconia, the proximity to nature in a traditional rural region will be explored, while in Mongolia the focus will be on the rich cultural history and nomadic way of life. An intensive exchange and the creation of new works of art form the highlight of this transformative project, which will subsequently be presented in exhibitions.

The ART CAMPS are planned from June 17 to July 7, 2024, in Bavaria and from July 26 to August 15, 2024, in Mongolia. During their stay in Mongolia, participants will experience nomadic life in traditional yurts, far away from electricity and water connections. Some artworks created there will be presented in an exhibition at The Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum in Ulaanbaatar.

Artists are invited to apply by March 1, 2024.
