Artist U.Narbayasgalan is a practicing contemporary artist, who has been creating installations, mixed media pieces, public art performances and has been participating in local and international both Asian and European art projects, festivals and residency programs. In 2016 he presented his solo exhibition “Inner Action” of installations and media art works at Q Art gallery, which brought him under thorough attention of professional artists and curators. In 2017 U.Narbayasgalan with a group of artists co-organized “Let me go out mama” joint art media exhibition at “Blue Sun” contemporary art center of Mongolia. Since then he has been actively working on art projects of the center as an artistic director, including designing “Blue Sun” Mongolian contemporary art magazine series. In 2018 he was part of “Urtuu” art camp program with his media art work and in 2019 he initiated his RESTART public art concept during “Bulag” art program. During the pandemic in 2019-2020 him with a group of artists implemented public media art joint project, which was a strong step forward for public media art development in Mongolia. Since the beginning of his career his works were connected with meat, which was delivered by oil paintings. After a few years his works transformed into mixed media, light, digital installations, public art expressions, papier-mache sculptures and conceptual performance presentations with meat and the use of cutting boards and meat grinder. Why meat? ….. There are over 7 billion people of different origin, culture and religion – yet they are mainly meat eaters….We cut meat into small bits, chew, digest and push it out. Meat grinder replicates this particular process. Themes of Baysaa’s work may seem simple and easily understandable, however they also carry and deliver hidden, dual strong hybrid messages.
Restart a performance of continues turning auger is a reflection of a universe where cruelty and compassion mixes and triggers another start, RESTART.
