Biography

Karl Heinz Jeron

„My artworks are not fixed things. They extend to include organic and inorganic intensities. They are fundamentally in a state of exchange, negotiation or reconfiguration. They exist in a state of potential. I am concerned with the questions of what changes and how something new emerges.”

Karl Heinz Jeron, born in Memmingen, Germany, in 1962, is a renowned media artist and sculptor who has lived and worked in Berlin since 1987. In addition to his freelance artistic work, he taught at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1999 to 2006. He lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

His art deals with everyday culture, media perception and information processing. Jeron’s works span from the singing and dancing robot Sim Gishel, to compositions for electrified rotten vegetables and audio tour guides in onshore wind farms.

Jeron explores the intersections of technology, culture and human experience, particularly in the context of everyday culture and media perception. His artworks are constantly in flux of exchange and reconfiguration, and he is particularly fascinated by site-specific art, where he explores the dynamics of change and the emergence of the new.
